German painter Kurt Polter (b. 1914) created this gently colorful impressionistic piece featuring two young girls sitting at a table, with a stunning view of a calypso blue harbor behind them. The play of light and the gentle blend of colors ( blues, yellows, peach tones, reds and greens) is mesmerizing. Signed in the lower left corner and framed in an ornate gold-tone wood frame with a one inch muslin inset. A brass plaque is affixed to the frame stating,"Porto S. Stefano - Kurt Polter". Rubber bumpers and a wire to hang in the back. Very good condition - one small scuff to the frame on the bottom. Please see all photos for additional details. Dimensions: Frame is 35" wide x 47" tall, Art opening is 27" wide x 38.5" tall. About the artist: Kurt Polter (b. 1914) was born in Kassel, Germany. His parents ran the famous Kessel Hotel. He studied art at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and became known for his impressionistic style and depictions of children, landscapes and florals.
