Framed, high quality and hard-to-find portrait print with silkscreen and texture on canvas, based on an oil painting by prestigious Russian artist Sergey Ivanovich Smirnov (1953-2006). Unsigned and numbered 102/300 on the back dustcover in ink. Smirnov formed his distinctive style by blending modern modes with 11th century Russian iconography and "parsuna," a 17th century type of religious and personal portraiture that incorporated masking and hybrid imagery. The comical harlequin, diamond pattern in this portrait can be found throughout his art, here wedded to a sober, near tragic expression. Exhibited in both the Kremlin and London, Smirnov is avidly collected worldwide. He assigned rights in 2001 to Fingerhut Group to exhibit his works and release limted edition prints. This black wood frame (small corner chips shown) is lightly distressed with thin red lines and has an aged decorative interior. It measures 35" W , 41" H x 2" D with a 28.5" x 34" image. Reserve: $950
