Framed limited edition "Maud" 1983 serigraph signed in pencil by French artist Philippe Henri Noyer (1917-1985) and numbered 21 of 225. A semi-clad, vaguely vintage young woman lounges in the heat beside a leopard, her pith helmet, half smoked cigarette, floral arrangement and glass of water nearby. Noyers studied at the Paul Colin School of Art and in 1943 became one of Emmanuel David's world-known "School of Paris" painters and a high society portraitist, his works catching the eye of higher-ups in the American movie industry. He portrayed animals, repeating objects and langorous, long-limbed ladies in reminiscent themes full of light and transparency. The gilded wood frame around this print has applied shadow patina and measures 30" H x 40" W x 1.25" D, with ivory linen matting and a 25" x 31" image area. Reserve: $450
