Modern Yoruba beaded sashes are based on sashes that once functioned as symbols of the owners spiritual position. Beads and Cowrie shells were seen as a sign of wealth by the Yoruba people. They are no longer used as such but are still hand made by the Yoruba people of Nigeria. This sash is in good condition with very little wear and only a couple missing beads or shells. The sash is 40" L x 3" wide. Please see all photos for more details.
