This lithograph with heavy embossing was reproduced from a famous Dalivision optical illusion image created by Salvador Dali (Spanish, 1904-1989) in 1975. The print is not signed, but is titled and hand-numbered in pencil “Gala Nude/Abraham Lincoln, H.C. (i.e. hors de commerce/not for sale/not for commerce) 116/250”. The piece includes a large sheet (22” x 28”) with an introduction by art critic Bruce Helland. Framed in a dark-stained wood frame and double-matted in linen and black. There is a wire to hang by in back, and a pocket which holds the large folder and description sheet. Very good condition – the print lies flat beneath the glass, colors vibrant, frame in good shape. Please see all photos for additional details. Dimensions: Frame is 27” w x 32” tall x 1.75” deep. Art opening is 17” w x 22” tall. Image size is 16”   w x 21” tall.  Image details – The subject of the piece is dual and unique. Dali’s original piece is titled “Gala Contemplating the Mediterranean Sea Which at 18 Metres Becomes a Portrait of Abraham Lincoln”. Close-up, the art is composed as a dream; a collection of themes running the gamut from loss of innocence and original sin, to the crucifixion of Christ and the assassination of President Lincoln. When viewed at a distance, Abraham Lincoln’s face is seen.
