This is a large oil painting on canvas in an ornate gilded frame by the German artist, Richard Faber. It depicts an early 1900's picnic scene beside a creek. Dressed in summer whites, the group lounges on the grass with a small rowboat in the foreground and a quaint bridge in the distance. The work signed in the lower corner, and is framed in a gilded wood frame with a linen inset. Very good condition for age - there are fine cracks in one area of the sky and a small indentation in the canvas. The canvas measures: 36.5" w x 24.5" tall, and the frame measures 44" w x 32" tall. There is a wire on the back for hanging. Also attached to the back is a bio of the artist, Richard Faber, who was born in Germany in 1908. He was schooled there and later displayed his work throughout the country.
