This large original oil painting on canvas is by the Spanish painter Nydia Lozano. Titled Sombras (Shades) it depicts a fair-haired woman in a pale pink summer gown. She holds a single bloom as she gazes aside, deep in thought. A large bouquet and an ornate green vase sit beside her in the room. The painting is signed by the artist in the lower corner. It is framed in a broad gilded wood frame that is 5.5" W. The art opening measures 35.5" H x 28" W, and the frame measures 46.5"H x 39" W x 2.5" D. It has a wire on the back for hanging and felt bumpers. The piece is in very good condition - the oils are vibrant and dimensional. There are a couple of very small nicks in the frame at the top. A gallery label on the back reads "Galerie Du Soliel / Gallery of Fine Arts & Sculpture - $20,500". Please see all photos for additional details. Nydia Lozano is a Spanish Impressionist painter, born in Alginet in 1947. She is inspired by the work of the 19th century masters; Sargent, Sorolla and Zorn, and the continuing philosophy of the Valencia School. At a very early age Ms. Lozano felt the inclination to capture on paper her impressions of the fields and towns of Valencia, which were the cradle of many important Spanish painters. At first she was interested in the language of landscapes but now it is the human figure of woman which inspires her. She tries to transcend mere appearance by focusing on what is alive in the female form: her skin, her clothing, the plants around her, the light on the walls which are her backdrop, personal moments like her hand to her chest.
