This is a vintage sterling silver Solje wedding brooch, signed KMK.  Solje is the traditional jewelry of Norway. Norwegian folklore believed that the spoons were meant to ward off evil or illness during times of transition in one's life. This piece has a simple round frame from which 6 discs ("spoons")  hang. Twelve smaller discs dangle on filigree extensions. The brooch is marked 830 S. and has a C clasp. It measures 1.5" W x 2.75" L and weighs 11.6 g. It is in very good condition - all spoons are present. Please view all photos for more details.
