This is a vintage sterling silver Solje wedding brooch. Solje is the traditional jewelry of Norway. This piece has 6 vermeil discs ("spoons") that hang from the round open filigree silver frame. Norwegian folklore believed that the spoons were meant to ward off evil or illness during times of transition in one's life.  The brooch is marked 830 S and also has a hallmark symbol. Closes with a C clasp. Measures 1.25" D and weighs 8.6 g. It is in very good condition - all spoons present. Please view all photos for more details.
