A unique, airy 14K yellow gold setting for use as either a pendant or brooch. 14K goldwork supports a precisely carved head and shoulders figure, right facing, of a female with upswept hair and wearing flowers at her bosom. The figure has a curved line and is carved from a translucent white shell with peach areas in the hair and flowers. The figure is mounted to an open frame of sturdy 14K wire in the back, with a brooch pin and lock system and also a hinged loop to allow hanging as a pendant. The figure is held to the frame via four ornamental prongs in the front. The carving is signed on the reverse, but the mounting covers this. Stamped "14K Italy" and "561 NA" for M+M (Amadeo) Scognamiglio, made in Naples.  Dimensions: 1-7/8" tall x 1.5"w. Wt: 12.1 g. Very good condition. Please see all photos for additional details.
