Category: Jewelry
This is a set of three antique shirt studs, to be worn with a men's dress or tuxedo shirt. Each stud features a round faceted very faintly aqua-toned clear stone, held aloft via six prongs in a gold-tone metal. The unique backs spring apart to hold the shirt buttonhole together. Stamped on the bottom "HR, patent, BTF, SDG.G". The 3 pieces are in an antique leather-covered, velvet-lined box, which has the following on the interior satin-lined lid: "Mappin Brothers Court Jewelers, 22 Regent Street, London West, Incorporated with Mappin & Webb Ltd." Very good antique condition - each stud snaps firmly open and closed. The box has light soil on the liner, and the exterior leather is worn and coming unglued near the latch button. The latch button does not stay closed. Please see all photos for additional details. Dimensions: stones are approximately 1/4" in diameter, studs are 9/16" long when closed, and 3/8" tall when opened.
